Bournano

Pirates in Panama History

Captain Bournano was a French buccaneer the crossed the Isthmus of Panamá in 1678, with the help of some Darien Indians and attacked the town of Chepo. Unlike La Sound, he was able to take the town and plunder it. His Indian allies, offered to conduct him to Tocamoro, a place where the Spaniards had a large amount of gold. Evaluating this forces, he decided not to go there, but return at a later date, with more men, to accomplish the task.
